About Lisa Sparkles
Lisa has been a certified Ballroom-dance instructor with the National Dance Council of America (NDCA) since 2000 and a Competing Professional since 2004. Throughout her extensive career as an instructor she has taught dance to both couples and singles as well as children both on Long Island and in Connecticut. She has worked at LUHI located in Brookville, teaching middle-school and high-school girls as stipulated by the girl's curriculum and in addition to teaching, she also helped to create the choreography performed by the senior girls at one of the school's fundraisers held at the Tom O'Shanter Club.
As an instructor Lisa received the 2nd place Top Teacher Award at the Stardust Ball early in her career. In 2013 she received Top Teacher at the Delaware Valley Invitational and in 2014 she received Top Female Teacher at the same event. She thanks all of her students for supporting her and being amazing dancers and individuals. Her students have received many top honors including, Gold with Honors placements and dancing their way to Finalist placements in all their categories.
In 2007, she received her first of 4 ZUMBA Certifications and in 2011 she received her Masala Bhangra Dance Workout Certification. ZUMBA is a Latin-inspired fitness program which combines Salsa and Cha-Cha rhythms with other styles of dance for an invigorating cardio vascular workout. Masala Bhangra is an Indian Dance based workout, using a mix of traditional Bhangra moves with some Bollywood flare. She enjoy both of these programs because they help both men and women become active in a very fun way. She has licenses to teach ZUMBA Basics, ZUMBA Gold, ZUMBAtomic, ZUMBA Toning and The Masala Bhangra Dance Workout.
As a dance professional, she has competed and participated in performances all across the Tri-state area. In competition, she placed 4th at the World Hustle Dance Championships and 2nd at the North Eastern American Rhythm Championships. In addition, she was also a finalist at the local Zachary's Dance Contest for three years in a row.. Over the past few years, she has been interviewed and filmed by several local television shows and newspapers; Channel 21 for a "Snap Shot" episode they did on Ballroom Legacy and twice by the Oyster Bay Guardian for articles on ZUMBA and the local gym Evolution Fitness. She was also filmed on the show 'My Generation' on the History Channel dancing Hustle. Most recently she was invited to teach at an event hosting one of the professional couples from dancing with the stars to a class of over 150 people.
In 2009, she was recognized by the Cambridge Who's Who as an Honored Member. Cambridge is an exclusive membership organization that recognizes and empowers executives, professionals, and entrepreneurs all over the world. As an entrepreneur in the arts, she was also selected as a VIP member which is bestowed to only ten women and men a year in their industry.
